Islamabad High Court, Islamabad Issued Policy Guidelines for Disposal of Cases
Islamabad 11-07-2024: Facing a huge backlog of cases for a long time, certain steps have been taken by the Islamabad High Court to reduce the backlog of cases, especially the old cases. In this regard, a revised policy for fixation of cases was approved vides circular No.31/Reg./IHC dated 06-02-2023 for expeditious disposal of cases. As per the said policy, older cases have been categorized into Oldest Category up to the year, 2010, Older Category (2011-2015) and Old Category (2016-2017). Since the implementation of this policy, 2026 cases from these categories have been disposed of over the past one year and five months, significantly reducing the backlog. Currently, 1351 cases filed up to 2017 remain pending adjudication before the Hon’ble Benches of this Court.
